Program Structure

The program consists of 180 UK credits (ECTS 90 credits) distributed over one year full-time.

Classes are expected to be held three times a week, from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM.

It includes:

Modules: Foundational topics in applied linguistics and TESOL. (150 UK credits) Practicum (30 UK credits)

There is no dissertation at the end of the course. Instead, there is a Teaching and Research Portfolio module.

Teaching and Research Portfolio module challenges, you to create a comprehensive Integrated Teaching and Research Portfolio that demonstrates your ability to connect and align your teaching practices with your research endeavors. The portfolio will serve as a reflective and evidence-based showcase of your dual role as an educator and researcher, highlighting how these two domains inform and enhance each other.

Through this portfolio, you will:

  • Document your teaching experiences, strategies, and materials developed during your practicum.
  • Present your research contributions, including projects, proposals, or findings.
  • Reflect on the intersection of teaching and research, showcasing how scholarly inquiry shapes your teaching philosophy and classroom practices.
  • The goal is to emphasize the synergy between pedagogical methods and scholarly pursuits, demonstrating your professional growth and contribution to the field of education.

Learning and Teaching Methods

  • Lectures and Seminars: Theoretical frameworks and discussion of key topics.
  • Workshops: Practical application of teaching methods and research skills.

Entry requirements 

Educational Background
Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree (minimum 180 ECTS credits) awarded by an accredited higher education institution. The degree must be completed in either full-time or part-time mode of study.

Minimum English Proficiency

  • IELTS 6.5 or;
  • CEFR B2 (61-64) or;
  • TOEFL iBT 79 (Only TOEFL iBT tests taken at approved test centers are accepted. The TOEFL iBT Home Edition is not accepted.)

Note: Applicants who have completed their bachelor’s degree entirely in English are still required to submit the above-mentioned language proficiency certificates.

The deadline for registration is 31st of July.

Note: The MA in Applied Linguistics and TESOL is one of the most in-demand master’s programs. The admission quota is 225 students. The quota may be filled before the application deadline if the required number of eligible applicants apply and secure their places earlier. In such a case, registration may close before the announced deadline.
